Roles | Group Leader

Whatever your role at any Barracudas camp, your primary responsibility is to ensure: the health, safety and welfare of the children in your care, to safeguard them and protect them from harm. Once these fundamentals are ensured, you should aim to give each of them such an amazing experience they can’t wait to come back!

Responsibilities: As a Group Co-ordinator, you will be an energetic, enthusiastic individual and have experience of working with children. Group Co-ordinators are dedicated to their groups. Once the season has started, we try to keep you with the same age group to create a sense of familiarity for children who return to camp week by week.

Duties include: 
• Advise your Group Assistant 
• Set up and maintain a base room area that is suitable and inviting for the children
• Follow policies and procedures to make sure the children in your care will have fun in a safe environment
• Follow the prepared activity timetable each day to make sure we deliver the amazing variety of activity sessions we promise
• Ensure that the needs of the children in your care are met with active supervision and attention throughout the day, including breaks and lunch times
• Be the Key Worker for parents and manage the exchange of relevant information regarding their children
• Get to know the children in your group as individuals, find out their likes and dislikes and incorporate these into their day at camp

Requirements – You will: 
• Have experience or qualifications working within a childcare setting
• Be aged 18 or over by the time you start
• Be eligible to work in the UK
• Provide satisfactory references 
• Be: enthusiastic, caring and organised, with excellent communication skills and able to apply your initiative
• Be experienced and interested in sports
• Adapt to effectively deal with unpredictable challenges within the childcare setting
• Obtain an enhanced DBS check through Barracudas.
• Attend an Assessment day if you’re new to Barracudas. These take place over the weekends at various locations. You can view the 2019 Assessment Day dates here. This day will contain a mixture of practical and theory based workshops.
• Complete relevant online training modules annually. 
• Attend an Induction Training Day (this will most likely take place within the 7 day period before your camp opens).
• Assist at pack up at the end of camp if required

Age of children: 6 - 11 years
Hours: 08:30 – 17:30
Salary: £295.00 - £450.00 per week (dependent on age, qualifications and experience)
